Former Barrie Legion Branch 147 President from 2003 to 2008, our Patriarch, Royden Johnson passed away at the age of 91 on September 26, 2025.
Born in Flesherton, Grey County in 1934, Royden moved to Barrie in 1965 where he raised his family and ran a very successful advertising business.
The “Old Guard” of Branch 147, will remember Royden’s strong dedication to the affairs of our Legion. He was also a great ambassador. Following his years as Legion President, he continued to work for the Bingo Fund Committee. Since 2016, he sold many hundreds of Catch the Ace tickets every week at venues outside the Legion.
Somewhat “old-fashioned” – somewhat opinionated, he had a very big heart and one of the warmest smiles. Our condolences to his family -especially to Claudette, his companion for the past 22 years.
